Our Waterjet Cutting Equipment

At Mr. Waterjet, our in-house waterjet cutting machines from Flow Waterjet delivers 60,000 PSI of pressure and allows us to cut materials up to 6” thick.

Waterjet cutting is done on a 5’ x 10’ table that can accommodate large orders and custom designs. Our highly-trained team can cut your designs accurately to within +/-.0003” tolerance, which allows our finished products to be used in a number of technical applications.

Our waterjet cutter can be used on virtually any type of metal and can be used to effectively cut other materials that cannot be cut using heat or electricity, due to warping effects.

Materials cut by waterjet will have smooth edges that do not require buffing after cutting, unlike materials cut with plasma cutters or other cutting alternatives.

Waterjet FAQ

What is waterjet cutting?

Waterjet cutting is the process of cutting a wide variety of metals and other materials with a highly pressurized water stream, resulting in a very accurate and clean cut.

What is a waterjet cutting machine?

A waterjet cutting machine is a large, computer-programmed machine that enables the operator to create various different cuts with a pressurized water stream.

Most waterjet cutting machines are composed of three main parts — the main pressure system, the actual machine, and the operator control system. The machine also has a built-in table that materials are placed upon for cutting. Tables will vary depending on the size of the machine.

What is waterjet cutting used for?

Waterjet cutting can have multiple purposes. It can be used for projects in various industries including manufacturing, entertainment, construction, transportation and more.

It can be used for common products like aluminum sheet metal cuts, or specific products like marble floor vent covers. The possible applications of waterjet cutting are virtually endless.

How does waterjet cutting work?

Waterjet cutting is a highly pressurized pump that generates a thin stream of water able to cut through various metals and materials. The pump generates pressure, converts the pressure into a high velocity stream of water, and, depending on the pump, introduces an abrasive material, like garnet, into the stream.

An operator, will indicate the specifications of the cut through a computer program and the jet will begin and finish the cut of the specific material on its large table surface.

How much does waterjet cutting cost?

Depending on the size of the order, prices do vary to adjust for basic, complex, and bulk orders. Regardless of the size of the order, Mr.Waterjet will accept any project.

How accurate is waterjet cutting?

Depending on the machine and model, the accuracy of waterjet cutting will vary. At Mr.Waterjet, our waterjet cutting machine models will cut most materials up to 6” in thickness to an accuracy of +/- .0003”.

What can waterjets cut?

Waterjets can cut almost any material, including materials sensitive to heat. They have the added advantage of not warping or creating micro-fracturing when cutting, in comparison to laser or plasma cutting. Some of the most common materials used in waterjet cutting are:

  • Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Copper
  • Brass
  • Aluminum
  • Marble
  • Glass
  • Granite
  • And more

What type of drawing file do I need to provide for my waterjet cutting project?

When submitting a quote and request for a waterjet cut at Mr.Waterjet, our team requests you provide us with a DXF File for your drawing. It is highly recommended to submit this file when requesting a quote, as it will result in a faster response time and more accurate quote.
